Evelyn Kathleen's First Birthday Party
As I write this, I can still hardly believe that my baby is ONE! Seriously, this past year has flown by. Evelyn Kathleen was born on July 19th at 11:04am. She is the perfect addition to our family and her big sister, Eleanor, just adores her.
Since Evie was born, she has always been incredibly serious and studious. If you put a book in front of her should would just stare at it for what felt like forever and you can already tell how curious and intelligent she is. We joke around the house that she has a degree from HBS, aka Harvard Baby School, so we decided it was only fitting to throw her a science/math themed first birthday party!
If you know me then you know that I think the best part of any party is the FOOODDDD! Haha! I also really enjoy setting up the food and treat tables. For this party we kept it simple. Covid 19 really threw a wrench in our plans, so Evie's party was just immediate family members. We just had lots of fruit and fresh veggies, a delicious Cobb salad, our favorite popcorn and some Italian subs.
One of my sweet childhood friends owns and Crumbs Up Bakery and she has always made my cakes and sweets for all my parties, but this time she totally outdid herself. When I told her I wanted a science themed cake with a mini Evie on top, I could have never imagined the cake would be too damn cute to eat! Do you see the little toes on the Evie on top of the cake?! So cute!
Along with the main cake, we also had a dozen cookies that were decorated to look like beakers and a mini smash cake that I have more pictures of below!
Evie did NOT like the idea of getting messy and smashing into her cake. About 5 seconds after these pictures she started bawling and we took her into the bathroom to clean her up. She ended up in my lap and we shared a sliced of her yummy cake!
Overall, it felt so good to gather with our family to celebrate our little angel. Feeling extra blessed to be her mama, and I'm excited to see where this next year takes us!
